John is a native of Virginia Beach & Chesapeake with deep roots throughout Virginia.
He is passionate about entrepreneurship and business development. He has personally launched multiple new ventures and ideas. Like many entrepreneurs, some ventures have succeeded while others have failed. A true believer in “failing forward”, John looks for new opportunities in every situation. This mentality allows John to connect with entrepreneurs and business owners in a meaningful way to help them navigate difficulties and grow their success.
Outside of his practice of law, John serves as Chairman of the Board for Roc Solid Foundation, a local non-profit that builds hope for families fighting pediatric cancer. John also served the City of Chesapeake as a Planning Commissioner for five years, including leadership roles as Secretary and Vice-Chairman. In his free time, he enjoys the outdoors and loves spending time with his wife, two daughters, and two yellow labs.
John graduated from Regent University School of Law in 2010, where he served as Chairman of the Moot Court Board and a member of the Student Leader Advisory Board. After law school, John found his niche practicing real estate and business law throughout Virginia and North Carolina. In real estate, John has experience representing investors, developers, builders, banks, lenders, and individual home buyers in a variety of transactions. His business practice ranges from advising entrepreneurs to assisting established business owners in mergers, acquisitions, contracts, litigation and dispute resolution.

After law school, Mark worked in private practice for several years and then enjoyed a long career serving as in-house counsel to a variety of businesses, including heath care firms and private equity funds. In these roles he has represented a wide range of businesses, including chemical manufacturers, health care providers, investors, and real estate developers in a variety of transactions. He has extensive experience in mergers & acquisitions, real estate leasing and development, corporate formation and structure, commercial disputes and contractual matters.
Mark has participated in the formation of a number of private equity funds with up to $1.0 billion in committed capital and in the internal structuring of such funds from both operational and tax perspectives. He has been actively involved in deal acquisitions ranging from $50 million to $1 billion, with oversight of financial, operational and tax structuring for domestic and international companies (including the EU, MEA, Asia and South America). Mark served as active in-house counsel for portfolio companies ranging in size from $25 to $250 million in annual revenues, overseeing internal legal departments and managing outside counsel in litigation and transactional matters.
Outside of his practice of law, Mark serves as a Board Member of Beth Sholom, one of the leading providers of assisted living and skilled nursing services in Hampton Roads. A father of four and grandfather of two more, he enjoys spending time with his family and pursuing a life-long interest in history and philosophy.
Mark may be from California – born, raised and indeed, licensed to practice law there – but his roots in Hampton Roads run deep. His wife of nearly 20 years is from Norfolk, and her family has been in business in this community for over 70 years. Mark thus offers our clients both a unique perspective on our region and a deep understanding of the challenges of doing business in the Tidewater area.
Robert “Bobby” McFadden, Jr., a Norfolk native, is a graduate of Old Dominion University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2017.
He then received his J.D., with honors, from Regent University School of Law in 2020. While in law school, Bobby was the Notes & Comments Editor for the Regent University Law Review. Bobby also served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Robert H. Sandwich, Jr. for the 5th Judicial Circuit.
His passion for helping small businesses developed as he grew up working in the accounting department for his Grandfather’s taxicab business. It was there that he learned what it takes to run a successful business. Bobby is both willing and eager to assist business owners in navigating the intricacies of the business world.
